Application and measuring principle
Frame spirit levels inspect horizontal and vertical surfaces and shafts. The frame design allows the same instrument to be used in several orientations; prismatic sides guide it on cylindrical workpieces.
Design and technical features
The textured special-cast body has three 150° prismatic sides and one flat side, finely ground measuring surfaces, a ground divided longitudinal vial, cross vial and full thermal protection to DIN 877.
Selecting the suitable version
Frame sizes from 100 × 100 to 300 × 300 mm and graduations from 0.30 to 0.01 mm/m are available. Small frames are easier to handle; larger frames provide longer reference surfaces. Magnetic equipment on the flat vertical face is available on request.
Practical use, handling and calibration
All faces must be clean and temperature equalised. Horizontal and vertical faces are checked separately and reversal detects zero error. Supplied in a case; Ballbach provides repair and calibration.
